Life
Lynn Gardner Kemmeries was born in Phoenix, Arizona on January 30, 1937. She was a third-generation Arizonan. Lynn attended Kenilworth Elementary and West High (class of 1954).

While attending the University of Arizona, Lynn was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and was inducted into the Spurs Honor Society. She met the love of her life, Ken Kemmeries on a blind date during her freshman year and married on December 27, 1956. Ken always told people that he was the luckiest man in the world to have married Lynn. During Ken’s years in the Air Force, Ken and Lynn lived in Lubbock and San Antonio, Texas. To their delight, they were able to return to Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson.

Her first child, Katherine, was born in 1958, and her second child, David, was born in 1960. After graduation, Ken accepted a job offer from Shell Oil/Chemical and moved the family to Concord, California. The family lived there for five years and Mike was born in 1963.

In 1966, the family moved to New Jersey. In 1967 the family moved to Pasadena, Texas where Scott was born in 1968. Each year the family returned to Arizona for vacation to see family and friends.

In 1971 Ken was transferred to New Orleans where the family lived until Ken’s retirement in 1991after 30 years with Shell. The New Orleans years were very special and filled with kids’ activities, tennis, bridge, Mardi Gras festivities, and great food. Lynn especially loved all of the wonderful friends she made there. After Mike left to go to college, Lynn had more free time and increased her volunteer activities, and returned to college at the University of New Orleans where she majored in Social Work??

After retirement, Ken and Lynn returned to Tucson where they purchased their dream home in Skyline. Lynn’s tennis continued with an incredible group of Skyline tennis players – they all became great friends. Ken and Lynn took many wonderful vacation trips around the world during these years, including many with friends (Walkers, Kilgores). Lynn continued her volunteerism with many groups, especially with HIV Disease and hospice. After she moved into the Vivienda, she got Teddy (her Bichon Frisé) and joined the Dog Walking Group (not that much actual walking, but lots of fun). She made many special friends in the Alzheimer’s Support Group. And she loved all of her friends (such an amazing and supportive group) and enjoyed all of the celebrations and girls’ trips.

One year ago, Lynn decided to move to Phoenix to be closer to her daughter. She lived in La Siena, independent senior living, a place she loved and called “the resort.” So many friends and family visited her during this last year which were a great source of pleasure for her.

Lynn will always be remembered for her unconditional love for family and friends. She was incredibly giving and caring. She was the first to greet new neighbors and make them comfortable. She always found the good and hope in situations. She was passionate about caring for others. She had a kind and compassionate heart, humility, great smile, generosity, and unconditional love for her family and friends. As beautiful as she was on the outside, she was even more beautiful on the inside.

Lynn was an inspiration to many. She served as a wonderful role model (as a parent, spouse, friend, and person) to her children and to others who knew her. She made so many of us want to be better people.

"People are about as happy as they want to be."
(Abraham Lincoln) --Lynn Kemmeries--
